Fortunately, Unfortunately

My jeep has really been a huge blessing during this snowy/icy winter. Fortunately it deals with the snow much better than my truck AND it has 4-wheel drive. Unfortunately, I have not been able to test out the 4x4 capacities as the lever to switch to 4-wheels isn't working.

Story time:
Last night my good friend Brian Bateman Jr. (I just wanted to get the whole name in there because he'll surely be famous someday) helped me shovel out the jeep. I hadn't moved it for days because there's so much snow that it's not worth driving a short distance at the risk of losing a parking space. But over the weekend, I use a vehicle most to get to and from the temple, church, and the show.

So Brian and I dug out the jeep and I tried moving it. It wouldn't budge. The back left wheel spun in circles but couldn't grab onto the ice beneath it. Brian tried pushing it, I tried pushing it...nothin'. Amidst our efforts, I tried to (electronically) roll the passenger side window down to communicate with a struggling Brian. The window wouldn't budge either, and when I finally got the ice out of the way to roll it down, it FELL down. Eventually, the time had come and I needed to get to the theater pronto! We left the jeep in it's place, window put back together as much as possible.

After the show we found out some unfortunate and fortunate news about our director. He's been sick through the whole process and because diagnosis was vague, we hadn't heard what was going on. His partner Jeff gave us the update. I won't give details, but I'm so grateful he's been diagnosed and the doctors are hopeful. It was an emotional night in that regard. We hope we get to see him soon! He's such an excellent artist and director and PERSON! I'm grateful to know him. He does so much for people.

We left the theater a little somber, but hopeful. I got home and went straight to the Jeep to see if any of the ice had melted. Nothin'. There were some party-goers standing nearby and the boys of the group jumped over to help. Nothin'. The help grew to around 20 people trying to push this little jeep and me and out ice! It was crazy! There were diggers, there were pushers. Finally I got out and with the jeep in neutral and the leverage of the open door we rocked it back and forth until it finally got it's bearings. What an event for those passers-by that got involved. I drove a loop around and came back for my shovel they had nicely banked in some snow and called Sara and Brian to come down right away... we were going to celebrate at Dominoes!

Vehicles in Boston in the winter: not always a happy luxury! My window's still broken and it's going to rain today. The mechanic is full of cars needing help during this weather so I won't be able to get it in 'til Monday. Fortunately, I found a slightly clear parking spot in a visitor parking area. It's unlimited parking on Saturdays and Sundays. I'm still trying to decide if I dare move it this afternoon or tomorrow. Taking it to the shop Monday morning might be the safest option.

phew.

Nine, the Musical
I'm in rehearsals right now for Nine, the Musical. I play the parts of Italian and German women. Just by the looks of the cast you can tell I'll be playing German most often, I mean I'm the only natural blonde here!

The woman with the red hair in the back left corner is also playing a German. She's so great! Her name is Shana Dirik. We went out to lunch the other day during one of our breaks and she told me all about how she's been performing since she was ten, but took a long break to raise her family. Now that she's jumped back into things, she's actually felt like she's had more success than she would have if she hadn't taken that break for her family.

She calls it Karma, I call it blessings from the Lord for putting her family first! I'm grateful for everything I'm learning from these women and so excited to learn more!

To Blog Or Not To Blog?

I've never had a real blog before. I've only stalked old friends, strangers, and family members on their blogs. It's January of 2011 and I just came across this blog that I created in April of 2010.

I've decided to start writing on it. We'll see how long this lasts.

Starting in 9th grade, I really got into writing in a journal. About nine years later I'm working on my 9th volume. Recently I've struggled to write consistently. Maybe writing on this blog will help me get back into the swing of writing in my journal... Or it will just compete with my time. We'll see!
